Berkshire CEO Sees No Problem for Japan Traders

Berkshire Hathaway's Greg Abel says low bond yields in Japan are not a challenge for trading companies right now.

Investors watch Japan closely. Berkshire Hathaway, a big company led by Warren Buffett, also pays attention. Greg Abel is CEO of Berkshire Hathaway's non-insurance businesses. He shared his thoughts on Japan's money markets.

Abel spoke on CNBC. He talked about Japanese bond yields. These yields are like interest rates on government loans. They tell us how much money investors make when they lend to the government. Abel says these yields are still low in Japan.

Some worry low yields could hurt trading companies. These companies make money by buying and selling goods globally. They often use borrowed money. But Abel sees no immediate problem. Low yields mean borrowing is cheap for them. This helps their business.

Berkshire Hathaway owns big stakes in several Japanese trading houses. These include Ito, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, and Sumitomo. The company believes in their strength. Abel's words reassure investors about these important Japanese firms.
