CFTC Fines George Santos for Illegal Trading

The CFTC fined former GOP Representative George Santos $35,000 for illegal trades on Kalshi.

George Santos, a former Republican Congressman, must pay a $35,000 fine. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC, ordered this payment. He traded on Kalshi, an event contract market.

The CFTC found Santos made these illegal trades in February. The agency says he broke rules about trading on political events. Kalshi allows bets on future outcomes, like elections or economic data.

This action by the CFTC shows they enforce trading laws strictly. It means anyone, even former politicians, must follow these rules. The commission protects market integrity for all investors.
