Faulty Medical Needles Cause Deaths
The FDA warns about a medical device after four people die and many more get hurt.
A medical device from Becton Dickinson, or BD, causes serious problems. Four people died. Forty-five more suffered injuries. These injuries were severe.
The device is a needle set. Doctors use it for quick access to a patient's bone marrow. This happens in emergencies. The FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health issued an alert. It told people about the dangers of the BD Intraosseous Vascular Access System.
BD recalled the faulty needle sets. The company works with the FDA. They are making sure patients stay safe. This recall protects patients from harm.
