Intel Beat the Street. Friday's Open Is About Whether Anyone Cares.
Revenue hit about $16.1 billion. Adjusted EPS landed near $0.42, roughly double the street number. That landed into a session that just crushed Tesla and Alphabet. Here is how to read the open without hero worship.
The scoreboard overnight
Intel reported second-quarter revenue near $16.1 billion versus a street figure around $14.4 billion. Adjusted earnings came in near $0.42 a share against estimates near $0.21. Management also sounded constructive on the next quarter.
On a normal week that is a clean beat-and-raise story. This is not a normal week.
Thursday already punished megacap AI spend. Alphabet slid hard after lifting 2026 capex toward as much as $205 billion. Tesla sank on a profit miss and negative free cash flow. The Nasdaq dropped more than 2%. Brent crude tagged $100. Intel's print has to fight for attention inside that mess.
What still matters on the call
A beat is not a thesis. Score three lines before you size anything:
Data Center and AI. Did the growth lines look real, or did mix and older products do the heavy lifting?
Foundry. External customers, packaging, and process language that sounds like a business, not a press kit.
Guide and cash. Rebuild stories die when the investment plan surprises people, even after a pretty quarter.
If those three firm up, suppliers and competitors can move with Intel. If the beat is mostly old mix and Foundry stays foggy, the stock can still fade into a risk-off tape.
Process for the open
Mark levels before cash. Decide what would make you more interested and what would make you walk. A gap-and-go that the whole semiconductor complex ignores is a single-stock carnival. A gap that holds while peers firm is a different animal.
Friday is also a weekend-risk session with oil elevated and the Fed meeting next week. Liquidity thins. Do not confuse after-hours Twitter with a plan.
Pocket change
Intel gave you a real print. The loose change is whether Foundry and AI language survived contact with a market that just sold the spend story. The scoreboard is public. Your rules should be too.
