Tesla Shifts Focus From Cybertruck to Cybercab

Tesla plans to slow Cybertruck builds to make room for its new self-driving robotaxi.

Tesla is shifting its big bets. Elon Musk wants more self-driving taxis on the road, and that means making tough choices on the factory floor.

The company plans to wind down Cybertruck production at its Texas plant by mid-2027. Workers will use that factory space to build the new Cybercab robotaxi instead. Musk believes robotaxis will power the future growth of the company.

The Cybertruck turned heads when it hit the streets. Building the steel pickup takes massive amounts of factory space. Tesla wants to dedicate that space to cars that can drive without human help.

Investors should watch this shift. Leaving trucks behind to chase robot cabs marks a bold change in direction. Tesla must prove its self-driving system works well to reward patient shareholders.
